Much of UAB’s work is done within its committees. All UAB members are highly encouraged to join a committee in order to participate more actively in the formulation and development of our exciting events. If you are interested in joining one of our committees, sign up at our next Street Team meeting or simply attend their next meeting. You can also directly contact the appropriate chair to get involved immediately!

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee is in charge of promoting UAB and its events. Their role is carried out through design and distribution of flyers and other print publications, upkeep of the website, communication with the campus community, advertisement and marketing, and promotion throughout the region. It works closely with each programming committee to ensure appropriate and consistent marketing strategies for each individual event. Please contact the Marketing and P.R. Chair - Shawn Claxton for more information.

Sponsorship and Technology Committee
The Sponsorship and Technology Committee is responsible for promoting UAB to area businesses in an attempt to acquire sponsorships in the way of donations, both monetary and physical, and also advertising space. Also this committee will be in charge of the creation, maintenance, and marketing of the new UAB Website. Please contact the Finance Chair - Russell Maltempo for more information.

Event Planning Committees
All events are organized by a committee and an event chair. Their responsibility is to help with ideas and brainstorming, planning and executing of each event. These committees are created 4-6 weeks prior to the start of each event. Sometimes meeting earlier to meet the specific needs of each event. Our upcoming event committees are :

Please contact the specific chair for further information.

Major Events - Davy Fogler

The Major Events Committee, under the Major Events Chair, will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of the 2010 Spring Concert. Because it is such a large event, planning must start right away, and it will take the entire year! Different aspects of the concert include booking an artist, logistical planning, and marketing (working along side the Marketing chair). This year should be bigger and better than last year, but for that to happen we need all the help we can get. If you are creative, driven, and ready to work, this is the committee for you!!!

Community Events - Kit Cantabrana

The Community/ Weekend Events Committee is will be involved in exciting small and large scale events! We make campus a fun place to be on weekends and help bring the campus communities together. Some of our bigger events include Homecoming (preparations will begin almost immediately this fall quarter) and Metro Nights. Other equally thrilling events include the involvement of the Basketball Tournament, The Cardboard Boat Race, Relieve Recess, and still one event to be decided upon. My hope for us to make existing and brand new events as fun and as memorable as possible for everyone! Creativity, enthusiasm, and an interest for bringing life to the community makes you a top candidate!

Series Events - Blakely Cheatham

Series Events Chair: As part of the Series Events committee you will get to explore new and exciting talents. While the events this committee will put on are relatively small in nature, I'm hoping that with your help we can make them bigger and better this year. The main events for this committee are Constitution Day, Rhythm in the Rath, and the chair's biggest event is Campus Idol. So, if you enjoy finding new musical talents this is definitely the committee for you!
