Cardboard Boat Race & Homecoming Dance

0

Hello everyone, the Wright State University Activities Board has a few exciting events for you as a part of Wright State’s Homecoming Week. First, we have Cardboard Boat Race. This event takes place on Thursday, October 6th at 5:30pm in the Atrium of the Student Union at Wright State. Your team will have the opportunity to build a boat made of cardboard and race it in the pool. Trust me, this will be a good time. And speaking of good times, the annual Homecoming Dance is being held on Saturday, October 8th from 8:00pm to midnight. Join us in the Apollo Room in the Student Union at Wright State. Our theme this year is “Crashing the Courtyard”. We have some neat things planned for everyone who attends, so don’t miss out!

For more information on both of these events, visit the Facebook Event pages: Cardboard Boat Race and Homecoming Dance.

We hope to see you there!

The Crayons to Classrooms group is dropping off the supplies we gather from the drop boxes and helping distribute them. All of the service-work projects will have a required training and orientation.

We’ll see you there.

April Events!

0

Alright, we’ve got some awesome events for the month of April! I will get right into it:

First off, we have Project Runway. I’ll let Emily give you a description:

“MONDO GUERRA from season eight of Project Runway will make an appearance at the event as a guest speaker and judge! You won’t want to miss this!

You’re probably thinking “WHAT IS PROJECT RUNWAY?”
Well, at project runway teams of 3-4 will be provided with material to build onto a model (provided by VIVA Models). They will have 1 1/2 hours to construct their garment using unconventional materials such as newspaper, bubble wrap, duct tape, feathers, cardboard etc.
To end the night, teams will have their models walk the runway for the judges. The winning team will receive a PRIZE!”

Team sign ups are due April 15th! That’s today! More information is available on the Facebook event page, so head on over there and check it out! Facebook event page!

Secondly, Local Band Night. This event is self explanatory, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome. We will be featuring bands such as Killing Chloe, 3rd and Main, and more! April 28th in the Rathskellar. More information: Facebook event page!

We hope to see all of you there! As always, if you have any questions you can leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Would you like to be a Co-Captain?

0

We are now taking applications for co-captains for the 2011-2012 school year. Would you like more information? Because I have some for you:

As a Co-Captain, you will be primarily required to attend and assistant the Vice President with weekly Street Team meetings. You will also be required to have a leadership role in planning events such as Fall Fest, May Daze, and any other potential event that Street Team is asked to plan. It is highly encouraged for at least one Co-Captain to attend weekly E-Board meetings, and quarterly/occasional retreats. It is also encouraged that the Co-Captains have a short weekly meeting with the Vice President. Co-Captains will be responsible for motivating and leading the General Membership through volunteering and planning events.

When completed, applications may be left in Emily Sexton’s mailbox in the University Activities Board’s office in the Student Org complex in the Student Union Atrium.

Oh, you are interested in applying? You can download/print the application from our website! Just go here: Co-Captain Application

If you have any questions, leave a comment in this post and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

NACA 2011

Oh, NACA. Davy, Emily and myself had an amazing time in St. Louis. We saw/met performers such as Nick Cannon, B.J. Novak, Taylor Williamson, Dan Ahdoot, Jamie Tworkowski, Preston Pugmire (music featured in the video), Ross Matthews, and dozens and dozens more. Despite my forgetfulness, we still managed to get some footage from the weekend, and that resulted in this:
